The Amaranthine Vigil of the Lord Protector by FluorineSpark The Amaranthine Vigil of the Lord Protector by FluorineSpark
Corvo Attano as Lord Proector.

I thought I'd draw him before Dishonored. The proud and capable lord protector of the empress. I came across a great site with all the Sokolov paintings:[link]. I thought, Sokolov might painted Corvo when he's all high and mighty. Thus, the painting. I tried very hard to learn the style, not very successful... But I learnt a lot in the process.

Special Thanks to "AdriusFrostglare" for the name

Very nice work, and I can definitely see Sokolov's style there.

Learning to draw, paint, sketch, etc is difficult enough on its own, but being able to learn, study, and then mimic another's style shows talent and dedication. :)

This is fabulous, both in concept and execution.  I love the game so much!  This breaks my heart to see Corvo before things got weird.  What an unusual but emotional game.

Btw your gallery is faaabulous, I'm quite pleased I've discovered you!

I can't really see Corvo looking this fancy, even for Jessamine's coronation. I would've imagine him in the outfit he worse in Dishonored but with wee fancier touch, as for his hair he probably style it like that xD
but we all have our Corvos, right?
Nice job, btw!

I can see this as Corvo, apart fro the hair. I always picture him with the long messy style. Still, great work.

Oh wow, I can see him dressing like that for Jessamine's coronation. This is a great painting, and you captured Sokolov's style perfectly!
You should really consider sending it to www.bethblog.com/fanart/, this is one of the best pieces of fanart I've ever seen, I'm sure guys from Arkane and Bethesda will love it!

This is just brilliant, and although I had assumed that Corvo was always a bit rustic and never was really elegant or high and mighty, this is definitely an interesting take, and you came very close to Sokolov's style, especially with the shading of the skin and face.

This is truly brilliant. I love the uniform you designed and Corvo's "clean" look here. I doubt he's had that messy haircut/beard before the events of Dishonored! ;D

Wow, that's great! I love soo much the contrast between Corvo on your version of his official portrait and in-game Corvo: proud Lord-protector vs. escaped prisoner after 6 months of torture and solitary confinement.

I wish we had a chance to see something similar in the actual game - to learn more about what Corvo lost after he was framed for murder.

I would hope for a DLC about Corvo as lord protector as well, I'd love to know more about his relationship with the empress.

Me too.
I always feel that the game is lacking something in the very beginning: murder, prison, escape - all happens too early and too quickly in my opinion. (I didn't feel neither "dishonored" after all that, nor motivated for revenge.) Longer prologue or DLC could fix that.

I agree, it'd be nice to play 1 tutorial mission as Lord Protector, and get to know more about Emily and Empress, enjoy some of the glory. But it's a tricky thing to balance. Think about Assassin's Creed 3, we played as Haythem for 3 sequences almost 4-5 hours (not that I'm complaining about spending time with Haythem), and as young Conner (worst part), just to establish character and story line. AC3 is heavily criticized for it's slow beginning, and missions as young Conner without full assassin abilities. The game didn't pick up pace until Sequence 9 and by then, it's near the end. The same franchise, AC2 did a better job to establish the carefree life of Ezio as a noble playboy, and how it's all taken away, and you still get most of your major assassin skills by mission 3.

So it's really depends, and it's definitely a risk. Overall I'm happy with Dishonored story telling. I heard the new DLC is going to be that assassin guy, Dune.

Given how Sokolov usually names his paintings, it would be something along "The Amaranthine Vigil of the Lord Protector"

Because I do art as a hobby, I'm very lenient with my practice. I draw when I want to draw, and draw whatever I want. as a result, my works has very narrow subject matter (I only draw people, and mostly portraits, and mostly fan art for TV shows or games I like...) and I don't have a lot of variety in my style. So all in all, I'm a bad artist. But I'm happy, so... that kind of balance it out.

My next subject? Don't know. I might watch some TV or play some game and really like this guy and decide to draw him. Or I have an idea, and want to draw it out.

I wouldn't say that you're a bad artist, all in all, your talent is the most important thing an artist can have - and you have plenty of it. ~ Fan-art is extremely fun, as long as you enjoy what you're doing, we will.
