The title translate into: Trip to the City of Demons.
Some of the famous Chinese cities recently get new nick names:
Beijing: the City of Emperors(帝都)
Beijing has been the capital city of China for more than 500 years. The city has always been the culture and political center of China. It also contains the biggest and most famous Royal palace in China: the forbidden city. It is natural to be called The City of Emperors 帝都.
Shanghai: The City of Demons (魔都)
Shanghai was one of the first city forced to open to foreigners during the foreign invasion in late 19th century. As a result, Shanghai has always been the leading city of the newest fashion, the richest people, and the best night life. It is a city of neon lights, unimaginable luxuries and best entertainment. Best and worst things happens in this city with endless temptation and corruption. And it is indeed the City of Demons of desire and vice.
Guangzhou: The City of Flowers (花都)
This nick name is a lot less famous and dramatic as the previous two. Mostly because Guangzhou is the south most major city of China. The temperature is always present, winter or summer, the city is filled with exotic tropical flora, hence the name: City of Flowers.
Oh, and... I'm currently on a business trip to Shanghai, the demon city. It is indeed very flashy, the huge skyscrapers, neon signs, great restaurant and night clubs. Although, having to work 12 hours a day, I never have the time to visit any of the night clubs (can't really afford it either). But I was told it is extravagant scene to behold.
I, being a secret yaoi fan, actually want to visit the so called Maids/Butlers Cafe. I heard there's one very close to my office, but was recently closed down for renovation. Other places are far away, and I won't have time to visit. oh well...
After Shanghai, I'll go to Beijing and visit family and friends. I haven't been back to Beijing for 5 years. I've always say Beijing is my city, but other than being born and raised there, I probably won't know where is where, who is who, and what is what nowadays. I probably would get lost in the city... So much has changed since I left.
Still, Beijing is always my city.
It's amazing how quickly it changes.
I hope you have a great trip
